Apple Pie
Warm gooey apple pie that the whole family will love on a cold wintery day
Equipment
- Peeler
- Knife
- Chopping Board
- Medium mixing bowl
- Measuring cup
- Tongs
- Pie dish
- Brush
Ingredients
- 3-4 Sheets Puff Pastry
- 4 Granny Smith Apples Large
- ⅓ Cup Brown Sugar
- 1½ tsp Vanilla Paste
- 2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Nutmeg
- 1-2 tbsp water
- 75g Butter, softened
- ¼ Cup All-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp Crumbs I use panko
- 1 Egg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius
- Peel and core apples then slice to your desired thickness (I like mine on the thicker side). Place apple slices in mixing bowl and combine with 50g of the butter, sugar, vanilla, spices and water. Once combined, add the flour and mix.
- Grease your pie dish with the remaining butter and sprinkle the crumbs in the base of the dish. This will help the pie not stick to the dish. Line the pie dish with pastry but don't cut the edges off yet. Pour apple mix into the dish and put the rest of the pastry over the top to form a lid. Squeeze the edges together and then trim the excess pastry off with a knife.
- Mix the egg together and brush over the lid of the pie. With a knife, poke two holes in the middle of the pie lid (this allows air to escape, so the pie doesn't burst at the edges).
- Bake pie in pre-heated oven for 50-60 minutes or until golden and flaky on top.
- Cut and serve warm with ice-cream
